What is a hair type?

 Hey! The post of today is answering what is a hair type??

An individual’s hair type is based on there hair’s curl pattern, and the amount of curl in an individual’s hair is determined by the hair follicle. The hair follicle is a shaft or opening on the surface of the skin through which hair grows. It’s the shape of the follicle which helps determine it. Each type has a different shape in which they determine this:

•  Oval = Curly hair
•  Round = Straight hair
•  Elliptical = Coily hair

The four main categories of hair types are:

• Type 1 = Straight hair
• Type 2 = Wavy hair
• Type 3 – Curly hair
• Type 4 = Coily hair

Each hair type has subcategories based on the tightness or looseness of their curls.
